At Monday nights Sonoma City Council meeting, a new Sonoma Valley group called Preserving Sonoma Committee announced its intention to collect petition signatures from registered Sonoma voters for a special election initiative this fall which would limit the approval of new large hotels within the city limits of Sonoma. In order to qualify for a special election they will need to have approximately 1,017 registered voters to sign up. The estimated cost to the taxpayers of Sonoma is between $20,322 to $33,870.
