Step up and help
Here is an urgent request to the entire Sonoma Community: The Roy Jimenez & Risa Aratyr family home on Escondido Court in Sonoma burned to the ground last Monday morning. They lost everything. This family has been a stellar member of the community for many, many years and now they need our support. They need a rental in or near Sonoma, two bedrooms, furnished or unfurnished, for at least 6-10 months. Please reach out and help them find what they need. You can contact Roy at 304-3081 and at email@example.com. You can always contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Lets find them a home by Christmas!
Sunday past my daughter Eden and I went to the Talk of the Town Variety Show at the Sebastiani Theatre. We loved it, and now I know all the words to a super cool set list of songs from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Here’s a quote from the Star and Producer Mr. Jeff Gilbert, “It was a great show. I think we offered Sonoma’s best — Dana Land, Sue Albano, Peter Babbcock, Tobias Weinberger and Roger Rhoten. Without him, there would be no show. Thanks to everyone and the John Simon trio who really worked the hardest. I hope we can do it again in the near future.” Of course, adds Jeff, “I think I did alright, too.” Jeff Gilbert is on SUN 91.3 FM every weekday, Monday-Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. Take a listen.

On Thursday November 29, I am a waiter at the Sonoma Hopmonk Tavern during dinner. I am volunteering for Dining Out For Life to benefit Food For Thought- Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank. Simply dine out at Centre du Vin at the Ledson Hotel, El Dorado Kitchen, Maya Restaurant, Murphy’s Irish Pub or Saddles Steakhouse, and the restaurant will donate 25 or 50 percent of your food bill to the food bank. You can also help by spreading the word to your family, friends and neighbors. I invite you to join me and the other volunteers. For more information please contact 887.1647 or Diningoutforlife.com

At the Jeff Gilbert show, he sang this lovely Irving Berlin song I had not heard in way too many years. I love the lyrics, a message for all of us. I am always counting my blessing and one of them is writing this column.
“When I’m worried and can’t sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings”
