Make a note
I am making a note to myself right here and sharing it with you, my friends. That note is to make sure I do not book any meetings this Saturday and Sunday. I am tired and I see that my calendar is totally free those two days. I need to veg at home, cook but no cleaning. Watch a movie but no staff reports. I’d really like to be able to have one of those email reply messages that say I will be back on Monday. One day soon…

My wife, Jewel and I went to the Pets Lifeline Volunteer reception at the Community Cafe this weekend past. I unabashedly love Pets Lifeline. Everyone there comes from such a good-hearted place. The Community Cafe served up wonderful food, there were fine wines and a lot of questions about our new grand daughter Penelope May Valentine because our daughter Shoshana has worked at Pets Lifeline since high school. Here is a quote from Pets Lifeline Board President Monica Dashwood, “Anyone who spends time at Pets Lifeline knows how easy it is to fall in love with the place and those precious pets. Together, we will do everything possible to give those cats and dogs a fighting chance to live a good, long life.” For more information visit them on the Internet at petslifeline.org and each week this newspaper features the Pet of the Week plus you can listen to the Mornings in Sonoma show each Thursday at 9:45 a.m.
As spring approaches I am again making a serious attempt to stop smoking cigarettes. I’ve successfully done it before and I really need to do it now. I can feel the effects and do not want to continue. Trying to stop requires a true self-analysis of your life. I know I’m up to it but so far I have not done so. Maybe I should just quit smoking as a sheer will power exercise and be done with it. I’ll let you know how it goes in next week’s column.
The Sonoma International Film Festival will be in full swing by the time my next column comes out. Sonoma will be bustling with international, regional and local guests here to soak up the films, wines and beautiful Sonoma. Find out all the information about the festival by going to sonomafilmfest.org.
I want to wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday weekend. Snuggle up with those you love and always remember to love yourself as well.
My quote this week is by Van Morrison, “If my heart could do the thinking and my head begin to feel, then I’d look upon the world anew and know what’s truly real”.
